Is This the Right Page?

Where Concrete Microtopping Fits

A good fit for

  • Interior floors, accent walls, and commercial offices wanting a raw-concrete look
  • Remodels where a full structural tear-out or new pour isn't feasible
  • Stained, discolored, or dated slabs that need a fresh, seamless surface
  • Feather-edge transitions where thickness has to stay minimal

Not the right system for

  • Garage floors that need hot-tire and heavy-traffic resistance — see garage epoxy
  • Slabs with active structural movement or unresolved moisture pressure
  • Exterior surfaces exposed to constant UV, irrigation, or pool chemicals

System Overview

Concrete Microtopping in Scottsdale & Phoenix

A thin decorative option for suitable remodeling spaces where the goal is a refined concrete appearance without a new structural pour.

If you want the sleek, minimalist look of raw concrete on a surface that is stained or discolored, microtopping is the ideal solution. It is an ultra-thin polymer cement overlay that is troweled on to create a brand new blank canvas.

This system can suit modern residential interiors, accent walls, and commercial offices when the substrate and intended use are compatible with a thin decorative finish.

Why These Surfaces Fail Without the Right System

1
Delamination from skipped primer

Microtopping is only as strong as its bond to the slab. Without the correct bonding primer and substrate prep to a CSP 1 profile, the ultra-thin overlay can lift at the edges over time.

2
Cracks and old coatings left in place

Existing cracks or failing coatings that are not ground down and patched first will telegraph back through the new surface once the microtopping cures.

3
No protective sealer

Because the finished layer is so thin, it depends on a matte or satin urethane topcoat for wear resistance. Skipping the sealer step leaves the surface vulnerable to scuffing and staining.

Our Engineered Installation Process

1. Substrate Pre-prep

Grinding down old coatings, patching cracks, and opening concrete pores to a CSP 1 standard.

2. Primer Slurry Coat

Applying a specialized bonding primer to prevent microtopping delamination and ensure long-term wear.

3. Troweled Concrete Coats

Manually troweling two coats of ultra-fine polymer concrete to create a custom smooth or movement-rich texture.

4. Sanding & Sealer

Fine-sanding the surface to expose subtle trowel movements, sealed with a matte or satin protective urethane.

What Drives the Price

Every concrete microtopping quote is built from the same practical inputs — there is no mystery number. Sending photos and approximate square footage gets you an accurate estimate faster.

  • Square footage and number of coats required
  • Substrate condition — cracks, old coatings, and prep needed
  • Integral color or top-stain selection
  • Custom texture or trowel-movement detailing
  • Sealer type and sheen — matte or satin urethane

Our 5-step estimate tool collects surface type, size, and condition so pricing reflects your actual slab.

Practical Expectations for the Finished Project

These are planning guidelines, not a substitute for the written proposal. Exact products, schedule, finish, maintenance, and warranty terms depend on the inspected surface and selected system.

Installation & Return to Use
  • Installation timing depends on surface condition, repairs, system build, weather, and site access.
  • Foot traffic, furniture return, and vehicle traffic are separate milestones and are confirmed for the products used on your project.
  • Do not plan return-to-service from a generic one-day claim; the written project schedule controls.
Maintenance
  • Remove abrasive dirt and grit routinely so it does not become a wear layer.
  • Use cleaning products and methods approved for the installed finish.
  • Address damage, failed joints, drainage issues, or chemical spills before they spread.
Colors, Texture & Appearance
  • Final color, gloss, texture, and traction are selected for the surface and how it will be used.
  • Samples and photographs are useful guides, but lighting, concrete condition, and hand-applied texture can affect the final appearance.
Warranty Expectations
  • Coverage depends on the installed system, substrate condition, preparation scope, and written proposal.
  • Concrete movement, moisture, abuse, drainage, and normal wear may be treated differently from coating adhesion.
  • Review the project-specific warranty and maintenance requirements before approving the work.
